[Written in a slightly labored script.]
[Death Eaters]
A good show all around, I think. I'd have extended my congratulations earlier, but of course my injuries have prevented me from properly handling a quill. And some of us have the strength to refrain from boasting at the first opportunity, as though blasting off some idiot's leg is so I look forward to as speedy a recovery as possible, considering. The lingering threat of gangrene is enough to drive one to drink near on gallons of the most vile stuff imaginable.
I must say, though, that I look forward to another run-in. I hate to leave business unfinished.
[Narcissa]
Given my current state, I really don't think I should be forced to travel all the way across to your rooms to see my son. I think you'll find it won't kill you to bring him to me unbidden on occasion.

I confess I've always passed it off as sentimental nonsense, but people do say that bringing something new into the world gives a man a certain stake in the future that he may have lacked before. What pitiful stuff, I thought; one ought buy in for one's own sake, and there's no more to it than that. But it does make one feel ... invested. All the more reason to strive, all the more crucial that we should leave the world a better place than the one it's been sinking into of late.
Of course, there are other tired customs of new fatherhood that I will simply never understand. Tobacco's vile enough for old men, never mind a newborn child. But tradition is tradition, I suppose. It ought not to be disrespected.
[Family: Lestranges; V. Dolohov; other non-estranged relatives]
We'll have you all over for a proper celebration, of course, once Mrs. Malfoy is feeling a little more spry - but thanks ever so much for all the gifts, in the meantime. They're being put to excellent use. I hope you'll all stop by, at your leisure, and have a look; in truth, he's rather extraordinary. Did you know they all have blue eyes when they're born?
[Narcissa]
Have you given any thought as to who to ask to godfather? It's not terribly pressing, but I think it ought to be carefully considered.
